Either one. Nobody is going to knock on your door if you pick the "wrong" wrist, and no jeweller, ours included, can tell you there's a rule you have to follow.

That said, people have opinions, and a few of them are useful. We pass on a few of them when customers ask.

What people in the crystal world say

The idea you'll hear most is that your left wrist is the "receiving" side and your right wrist is the "giving" side. So you'd wear a stone on the left if you want to take in what it stands for, like calm or steadiness, and on the right if you want to put that quality out into your day.

It's a popular belief, and a nice way to think about it, but it's tradition and personal habit. It isn't science, and we wouldn't want you to stress about it. If a bracelet feels right on the other wrist, that's your answer.

What's practical

Most people end up choosing for comfort, and that's a perfectly good reason.

Pick the stone for how you want to feel

If you like the idea behind the left and right wrist, start with the feeling you're after, then choose the bracelet.

The Tiger Eye & Brown Agate Bracelet is for days when you want to feel steady. Tiger eye has long been worn for confidence and courage, and the brown agate keeps it grounded. It's strung on an adjustable black cord, and it works for men and women.

The Rhodonite Stone Bracelet is the softer one. Rhodonite is traditionally worn for emotional balance, and the large pink and black beads look as calm as they sound.

The Seven Chakra Bracelet with Tiger Eye is for the person who wants a little of everything: seven stones in the chakra colours, a big tiger eye in the middle, and a small butterfly charm.

How a bracelet should fit

A bracelet that's too tight is uncomfortable, and one that's too loose slides over the hand and gets knocked about.

  1. Wrap a soft tape measure around your wrist, just above the wrist bone. If you only have string, mark it and hold it against a ruler.
  2. Add about half an inch to an inch for beads. Beads don't stretch, so they need a little room.
  3. You should be able to slide one finger under it comfortably.

Our bracelets are all different, and Ellie makes each one by hand, so sizes vary from piece to piece. The Seven Chakra Bracelet, for example, measures 7 inches and has a 1-inch extender built in, so it fits up to 8 inches. If you need a different size, send us a message on our order page. We can often adjust the fit or make something close to what you want.

Find the one you keep reaching for

Every bracelet we make is one of a kind, so when you spot one you like, it's usually the only one. You can see them all on our jewellery page.
