If you wear a larger size, you already know how hard it is to find a dress that's pretty, well made and works for a real body. Most clothes are cut for one shape, and everything else is an afterthought.

Crochet works differently, and it's why we love it.

Crochet falls on the body

A crochet dress isn't cut and sewn into a fixed shape. It's made of loops, and loops follow whatever is underneath them. The dress falls on your body and hugs your shape, wherever your curves are.

That's why one dress fits a surprisingly large range of bodies. Our dresses are made for sizes 12 to 16, and within that range the dress sits on you the same way. The main thing that changes from one person to the next is the length, not the fit.

Length is the one thing to check

Because the fit adapts, the question to ask isn't "will it go over my hips?" It's "where will the hem land on me?" A taller woman will have a shorter dress, and a shorter woman a longer one.

One thing worth knowing: a crochet dress laid flat on a bed can look much longer than it is on the body. On you, the stitches hug your shape and the dress draws up, so it falls shorter than the flat measurement suggests. If you're deciding by length, think of how it will sit on you, not how long it looks on the bed. Our photos on a model are the best guide, and you're welcome to ask us how it falls on someone your height. If you'd like something longer or shorter, message us on our order page and we'll tell you what's possible.

The dresses and tunics

The Black Crochet Dress is long and sheer, in open-mesh lace that drapes over the shoulders. It's crocheted in pure silk.

The Sage Lace Crochet Dress has delicate openwork lace and an off-shoulder neckline, also in pure silk.

The Rainbow Stripe Crochet Dress is bright and playful, with a scalloped fan-stitch hem and a loose, flowing skirt.

The Magenta Crochet Tunic is a deep magenta silk tunic with tonal stripes, openwork lace and a raised floral motif. You can wear it over leggings or a slip.

What to wear underneath

Open-weave crochet is see-through by design. Most people wear a slip, a camisole and shorts, or a nude-coloured dress underneath. Choose one that's a little shorter than the dress so it doesn't peek out. A matching colour deepens the dress, and a contrasting one shows off the pattern.

One of a kind

Every piece is made once, so if you see one you love, it's the only one. If you'd like something similar made in your colour or length, we can talk about that on our order page.

Caring for it

Hand wash in cool water and dry it flat, so the stitches keep their shape. Our crochet care guide walks through it step by step.
